Got new bike - new clothing required

Picked up my new bike yesterday (Cube Agree SL). It has SPD-SL pedals and I've got shoes to work with them.

Yesterday I was wearing regular socks and I have plenty of sports socks and hiking socks. Are there cycling socks and what's better about them?

Seen my first set of bib shorts. Are they supposed to be worn 'commando'? They have padding, but my jocks have seams in places where they could cause problems.

I don't plan on riding at night, but I'll have lights for dull days and bad weather. Do I need to have a bell on my bike by law?

Can't give you clothing advice, im a newbie myself,
How much did you pay for the Cube SL?, is it a 2011 or a 2012.
Beautiful looking bike, thinking of getting one myself.
    Best of luck

There are a wide variety of cycling socks and mostly the advantage is if you are cycling in the cold, then special cold weather socks are pretty good for your feet if on a long spin. You can also get booties to go over your shoes which are also good for heat/retention.

Bibs are meant to be worn commando. The advantage of a good cold weather bib (i.e., covering all your legs as well, usually then with some fabric to hook on under yoru feet) and jacket is that it keeps your core body warm, and therefore is better for keeping your fingers andtoes warm as well.

In this weather I wear hiking/ski socks. You're feet don't move much as you cycle, so can get very cold very quickly. Overshoes are good too.

    This one for €1699.

I've spent all my cash on what I've got. I'll pick up a bib during the week when I get paid.
