    Intruders - 2012

Surprised this doesnt have a thread of its own. It was mentioned in the late night tread as it had a dual screening with a spielberg flick last month I think but I reckon it needs one.

Basic boogeyman story, kids see him in their room, parents go from not believing to being haunted by him, horror ensues. So nothing really new here but it's got the spanish angle (the new horror favourite!) and Clive Owen. :D
Watched the trailer this morning and it looks like they have gone the classic route of not showing a clear shot of the object of fear, but more importantly, on rotten tomatoes it has only a score of 43% critic on but a whopping 69% from viewers!

I made this movie in 2010, I didn't watch it tho because when it was released in Spain I was in Ireland and now that it's released in Ireland, I'm in Spain, so, it's a grudge!!!.

Anyway, I would recommend that ye not watch this movie because of some things:

    1) The script was really interesting but while we were making the flick there were cuts on it and we ended up making a less interesting movie than it could be without the cuts.

    2) Direction is not too bad because Fresnadillo is a really good director, but there is one character played by Pilar Lopez De Ayala who is not really well done, anyway, you are going to watch it in English and I guess that it might be translated.

    3) There is a point with the translation, since there are two languages in the film (Spanish and English) and they are there because of something, I don't know if just the English language is going to work.

    4) The final turn (do ye say final turn meaning a change in the script in the end of the movie?) is rather obvious, so, if you watch the movie carefully you will be able to know it in the 5 first minutes.

On the other hand, cinematography is absolutely marvelous and camera movements are really really good (especially one of them).

    Cheers!.

You made the movie? What do ya mean?

I saw it tonight. It was half in spanish and half in english and the twist was obvious as you pointed out though it didn't take "careful viewing".

The spanish portion of the story was, as expected, TERRIFYING! very childish nightmares, which lets face it, we've all had at one time or another but the camera work portrayed the intruder so well. I was watching it through my fingers with my tee shirt pulled up over my nose. :) I'm a sukka for these horrors.

The english portion dragged on a little, (though started very strong with one particular scene in the kids bedroom that had me gasping and closing my eyes!) and maybe because I copped the twist that I was just waiting for the reveal which then took too long, also I think the role was too big for the child actress that was chosen. She was good but not great. (Hate to say bad things about young actors, so much time to improve!)

Over all enjoyable movie but with an anticlimactic ending, and the dramatic "horror" music was overused and thus lost its effectiveness. 6/10 though leaning towards a 7.

Well, I was the second assistant camera in that movie, so you can see my name on the credits at the end of the flick! :P.

The Spanish part, I suppose it was subtitled, wasn't it?.

I've seen the "intruder" in the trailer and it's a pity, because it's made by computer while on set we had a really big guy dressed up as the intruder and the VFX guy told us that they were going to mix the real one with some computer graphics, but it seems that it has been made up entirely by computer (at least I was said so by the crew members who watched the movie).

Besides, I would say that it is a good horror movie with some clichés and it's very far away from what it could have been.

And, of course, if this movie had you in that state, it worths the money and I'm quite happy to listen that!.

    Cheers!.

It was subtitled and I think they might have cut the translations short so as to not lessen the impact fo the movie.

The Intruder / monster was really good. It was a little "floaty" during the spanish kids viewing but the english kids view was just a guy... a man, in her, room! It was really scary and I think it was
okay that it was a little "monstery" for the spanish kid as it was imagination, how he handled the return of his father, and the trauma of seeing him attack his mother.

Good movie, do reccomend, and I was making sure my wardrobe was shut tightly last night before I went to bed! :D
