CPC Practicle

Have my D test in Finglas in a few weeks time, done a lesson or two with Airport and have been getting on grand, but their guidance on the CPC practical test leaves a lot to be desired.

I haven't been able to find much info when Googling - other than stuff from UK sites. So does anyone have any insight as to what the scenario is?

I know that it's directly after the actual test, but what does the examiner require me to do? Is it just a case of walk around visual checks, showing where to check & fill oil/water/steering, clutch, brake fluids, where safety equipment is, what the switches do, what a webasto is etc. Are there any really technical questions in it?

I was asked a question on my mock that I'm afraid might come up in CPC practicle - how to calculate passenger weights on the bus. It stumped me, so I had to put some logic to it but not sure if it's right or not - 18000kg laden weight, 13000kg unladen weight, 53 seats so 94kg per passenger inc. luggage - but instructor wasn't able to give me a straight answer - apparently wasn't 100% on the subject!

Might give a bad impression to a tester if I've to take out my phone to do some maths before I can answer his question!

Also on main test - the reversing maneuvers - are they done before or after the road driving section, and were you to do both right & left reversing? How many bus stops were you brought to, did you have to do a full on inspection of the coach before the test or did the test just do the usual lights, tax, insurance checks?

Sorry for so many questions - but the "professionals" I'm paying can't seem to answer them

I stumbled accross this old thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=64659060 and am just wondering if they questions asked in the bus practical are similar, hopefully someone who did the test recently could enlighten me?

I passed it a few weeks ago - I was asked one peculiar questions, how to check the bus for contraband or refugees - so I walked around the bus checking everywhere I thought someone or something could be hidden.

For every question they ask they expect at least 3 good answers. Except for the show and tell part - if I were you I'd bone up on:

Where your weight plates is, maximum weight for the vehicle, how to calculate loading weights, tyre thread depths, tachograph regulations, demonstration of controls and vehicle checks - how to operate the webasto, ferry lift, saloon lighting, fog lights, where all the safety equipment is, all emergency exits, operate all doors manually, open lockers

It's mostly common sense, just any technical stuff it would be good to know it going in. I got through it with a clean sheet and a few lads I know who done it for the trucks got the same or just one or two grade 1's.
