    Hi All,

just read this on RTE news, they are looking at bringing in a new "Site Value" tax for the land you own which your house sits on on top of the property tax.

    Each household = €625 - would raise €3b a year in taxes.

    Link - http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0127/household-business.html
    dated - 27th jan

I Hope I've read this incorrectly, It's not definately coming in but it's now in the governments hands.

When will my brothers join me in arms ?

I truly believe at this stage that the only way to solve Irelands problems is with violence against our government since they ignore protesting - it's just unfortunate that 98% of Irish PPL are too pc & camp and have become to nanny-like since the late 90's

Mods - if there is already a thread on this new tax proposal then please delete but I didn't / couldn't find any other threads on it.

What are we gonna do about it?

    Nothing.

We will roll over and accept it just like we did with every other charge.

Quick someone start a facebook page.

A much fairer tax which would replace the household charge.

    Where's the problem?

    .

It's hard to throw a brick through a window with a limp wrist.

I do agree that a government should live in fear of it's electorate. That's certainly not the case in this country.

this is supposedly a tax on top of the property tax.
It is not replacing the property tax

I could be wrong here though and hope I am.
Any smart people care to clarify ??

There is a thread here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056531594 Irish Economy.
I don't want to be a wet blanket but as this tax only affects people that have land/property you should discuss it in Accommodation & Property
