Wheel nuts, WHY WON'T YOU COME OFF!!!

This story starts about 2 months ago. I got new front discs and pads for my Lancia. I fitted the discs but noticed the pads were the wrong ones so I put the old ones back in. Before putting the wheel studs back in i put a small bit of grease on them as they were stiff and screechy tacking them out. Yesterday I finally got around to getting the correct pads. But today I couldn't get 2 of the nuts of the drivers side wheel:mad:.
any suggestions that could get them off????????

Any help appreciated.

what type of grease?

copper slip I think but it was a while age. It might have been the black grease (magnesium)

leverage..pipe on the wheelbrace or a breaker bar. oh and dont put grease on wheel nuts. not recommended. maybe on the hub (copperslip) to stop the wheel sticking to it.

oh trust me i won't grease them again!!!!

will try a big lever. what sort of pipe would you recommend, a copper pipe obviously won't do it.

something hollow obviously. i would try not to have anything too long as then too much leverage. mind you a man once told me if it breaks it needed fixing.
the type of stuff they use for mounting tv aerials on chimneys.
also right size socket, hammer and hit hard. the shock can help loosen the thing.

not sure if a shock will open them as the windy-gun wouldn't budge them.

i have a bit of that tv arial pole i'll give that a shot.

Good stuff.

Another one is to retighten the other bolts back in, then try loosen the tight ones first.

Did you try kicking the tyres. Won't open tight nuts, but will make you feel better.:D:D:D

Trust me, I gave these methods a good go first:P

You're not supposed to grease the wheel nuts.

If you grease'em the thread friction is reduced by about 90% so when you tighten to the standard torque (about 130Nm) the nut is probably tightened to the equivalent of 250-300Nm without grease.

That's why they were so hard to remove.

whoever or what ever tightened them in the first place should be able to apply the same force and open them now, unless the grease got baked into the threads with heat from the brakes, dont know if this is possible though
