Bang/knocking noise in the pipework

    Hi,

Quick question: whenever I run the hot water tap in the kitchen and then shut it off I hear a bang from the pipework near the immersion. Only happens if the water from the immersion is hot and only happens from the kitchen sink. Problem began when kitchen sink was replaced, went from a hot and cold tap to one of those single 'mixer' taps.

Any ideas what is causing this banging noise? it's not really the noise that worries me I am afraid the pipes are getting damaged.

    Thanks.

It would sound like a touch of water hammer, if you close the hot tap slowly does it happen ?

If you have access to pipe secure it in place with more pipe clips or similar. Should stop hammer effect. Worked for me.
