A few days back I got a lend of my aunts visa debit card to buy something online for 100 euro on the dot. She rings me up today and lets me know shes been charged 130 euro and demands I pay the difference. She mentioned something about a debit card fee or tax

I bought the item from ebay which i'm sure includes the tax in the price (the seller pays it) so i don't think it's regular VAT

Anyone know what's going on???

Theres Stamp Duty due on cards on an annual basis. Perhaps this kicked in around the same time as your purchase?

Stamp Duty on a Debit card is only €2.50 or €5 per annum and is generally billed after the 31st of December.

It's €30 on a credit card alright but it's not collected until after the 1st of April. So the date would seem to be right but the amount doesn't assuming it is a Debit card.

Any charge for stamp duty would be labelled as such on the card statement and would be billed separately. If you where billed €130 instead of €100 it looks like the seller has added some additional fee afterwards and you need to query this with them.
Are you sure it was €100 and not £100 sterling the exchange rate might explain the extra charge.

Are you sure that you included P&P in the price ?
