    hi,
hoping to get a bit of advice here on mosaics, going to do some with my 5th class in the next few weeks. have lots and lots of vitreous glass mosaics (1cm x 1cm) and now i'm wondering if i can stick them onto a piece of wood or would i need some other type of surface?? also can anyone recommend what i should use to stick it on with?? i saw this on a local website http://corkartsupplies.com/Mosaic-Grout-300gm-M00054 and am not sure if its right. would prefer something cheap, the lads will be using the tiles to make old space invader characters!
any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I imagine wood would be fine, before bringing it in try some tried and tested PVC glue first, the kinda stuff that dries clear before you decide to splash out on expensive stuff. Then you can check yourself what kind of surface works best.

Wood is fine but instead of PVA use Polybond which you'll get in any hardware-it's a thicker, stickier version of PVA.
The grouting is for going between the tiles not for sticking it to boards. Leave a gap between the tiles and grout it afterwards. Cheaper to buy in a hardware shop. An interesting thing you can do is colour the grouting by mixing the powder with any waterbased paint

    thanks for the replies!

might check out polybond in the local hardware store, i see they have this in woodies http://www.buy4now.ie/woodiesdiy/productdetail.aspx?pid=14053&loc=P&catid=101.16 which might work??
think i might leave the grout out so and just stick them on!
