Trade-in Query

I am looking to trade up from a '07 Ford Focus to maybe a 08 or 09 Mondeo or Passatt. The focus is a 1.4 basic LX model, has 70,000miles on the clock, is due NCT and a service.

It is reasonably clean (for a car that carries young kids) but it does have a couple of scrapes on the driver side, which we were quoted €1,000 to repair.

I would appreciate opinions on what I could expect in terms of a trade-in allowance in the current market. My experience is that garages tend to ask 'what were you hoping to get?' and I've no idea how to respond.

With the damage it's probably worth about €5500, a mint one might get €6500.

Not sure how much help this will be but i traded in a 06 1.4 focus zetec with 40,000 miles and got €6250 off a €12500 car. Got roughly the same price from a few dealers.

Having said that i would concentrate on the price to change rather than the trade in value.

Cheers - was offered 5,250 - which I think is fair given the damage.:)
