Ladies - Getting asked out.

When a man asks a nice lady out for a drink, for dinner, a date of some kind, not much is asked of the women. Its a yes/no response, and its the man who has to put his neck on the line. Even in these liberated days its one of the things most women will still not do. This is fine, of course, us men should show our interest, even if it means a few rejections.

Anyway, I am curious, how does it feel as a woman to be asked out, is it an insufferable side effect of beauty with fragile mens egos to be tolerated but brushed aside, or is it a pleasure to feel wanted, and attractive?

I know of course, the context matters, to be propositioned in a chipper at 4am is probably not very encouraging, but I mean more in everyday situation, in work, gym, whatever (when the bravado effect of alcohol is not involved)

As for me, somehow, i always felt asking out was a sleazeball thing to do, however i have since disabused myself of that notion. Still can be tricky though.

Well, there is no one way to respond to this. Women are all different with varying opinions and there is no 'woman's opinion' 'woman's perspective' etc...

Wow you couldn't have made that sound any more formal, rigid and uncomfortable OP!

I'm not offering a ladies perspective here but from my end if I like someone and have chatted to them at some stage then I've no issues asking them to go for a coffee/drink/whatever. Life's too short. You'll generally know within 10mins of the first date whether there'll be a second or not. And that's cool cos hey; not everyone clicks.

I can see it being outright weird for someone to proposition you out of nowhere walking down the street but if you got chatting to someone on the bus/queuing for xyz/in the usual pub/club scene and got asked to go for a coffee or something then I can't see the issue; its pretty innocent for the most part.

As the charter says Waestrel, the ladies lounge isn't for guys asking "what women think about...[insert subject here]. As Posy points out "Women are all different with varying opinions and there is no 'woman's opinion' 'woman's perspective' etc... "

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
