    Hello all,
a friend is thinking of buying the above car. Just wondering are there any kia rio owners on here and could you tell me what they are like reliability wise?

    Thanks

I drove one before and have to say it was the slowest car I ever drove.

It shares parts with the Hyundai Accent which I think is a far superior car.............to the Rio

As regard reliability they aren't great.

In fairness an Accent would be a far better buy

As said, same as an Accent.
Can't say they're any worse or better, but given that it's 8 years old it'd want to be for very small money.

AFAIR the engine is different as is the gearbox to the Hyundai

or something like that. I just remember being told they were rubbish. I test drove one to see for myself and all I can honestly say is that it was by far and away the slowest car I've ever driven

I always thought they were the same engine, both 1341cc, can't remember if KIA were still reworking Mazda engines at that stage?

    Either way they're equally dull.

I could be wrong Colm but I always thought them the last of the cars without Hyundai engines. I've always been told they are rubbish though.

I'd take an Accent before a Rio at that age every time :)

Is there a "bullet in head" option instead?

Only if I can charge the cost to your nearest relative like the Chinese

Actually better looking than the hatch (not hard)]

At the time, I actually liked (kind of) the design of the boot, it's quite complex in the flesh, lots of curves and angles going on.

The Shuma and Mentor are equally rare, saw a Kia Spectra yesterday, think it was an Oz import or something.

    nasty.

Thanks for all the replies. Garage guy wants 1800 for it for trading in an old corolla.
May be best to stay clear then.

I agree about the styling and production of the boot but bloody hell it's still ugly. I'd take the hatch and I normally prefer the saloons

Any link to the car and details of the Corolla.

I think 1800 is mental for it.
