Single Parent Tax Credit

My ex claims the single parent tax credit even though he never has our child overnight. As far as I'm aware the child needs to reside with him for part of the year? Is this correct.

If you want to claim this tax credit, do you need a letter from your ex? The reason I am asking is that I never wrote such a letter and fear he may have forged a letter from me. He has past history. So basically my question is does anyone know if you can claim this credit without a letter from your ex?

No letter required. If you wish to report the fraudulent claim, contact your local Revenue office.
