How do you use your PS3 for Saorview? Did you buy that PlayTV thing?

You just plug aeriel line into it yeah? Is there a chance you can plug the line from a dish into it as well and get get the satellite channels? :D

I've been thinking about getting the Ariva 120 but this is interesting.
Play TV costs almost the price for the Ariva 120 anyone so wouldn't I just be better off going with that and having it all combined?

Or do you use it that way because the Humax is a great receiver but only does FTA and not Saorview?

    So many options :pac:

I got Play TV on a special deal with Amazon, worked out quite well, just plug in an aerial an you get the Saorview channels with the ability to pause live tv, record to the ps3 hard drive and 7 day EPG.
Doesn't work with a sat dish AFAIK.
In combination with the Humax it's great, I could actually record on 3 channels at once while watching a 4th (not that I ever have).

I've been manually tuning in channels on my Sky+ HD box but when I try to access them through other channels it's asking for a PIN code. Is there some default code or do I need to ring Sky? I've cancelled my account a while ago but would they still tell me what the PIN is? Thanks.

It's your old pin code, you should have disabled it before you cancelled your account.
If you still have your viewing card you might be able to deactivate it,had to do a reset on a box I had before to take off the pin restrictions as I didn't know the original pin number.

i cancelled my direct debit with sky, as i couldn't be arsed ringing them and wasting 30 0r 40mins on the phone being sold new products or being persuaded to keep sky. they just sent me out an email stating that i was in arrears to the tune of 31euros and if they didn't recieve payment within 9 days they would cut me off. fine says I.

i have taken out the card and unplugged the box and i now have all the bbc, itv etc channels up on the main menu but they are scattered all over the shop. is there any way i can reorganise them so that they are in the one lot ie. 101,102,103,104,105,106 etc. etc.

@ zerks, how do you go about resetting your box so that you can enter a new pin code?

Make them favourites. After that your favourites menu will have them displayed one after the other.

    Hi Metroid

I never had Sky + boxes, but to reset the Standard Box to UK London (ie 101=bbc1 ,102=bbc2, 103 = itv etc etc) this is how i used to do it.

Not sure who told me this ,or whether its the same as powering it off and leaving it off for while.

1, With OLD card in got to sky new 501, Press Red button.

    2. When in Sky interactive ,remove card.

    3, Exit Sky Interactive

4, Box will then reset to BBC London region

I have an LG brand TV that does both Saorview and Freesat with 7 day EPGs.
Quite neat and tidy. No box at all.
    Got it from Richersounds Belfast.

No PVR but you could add one.

I'd say thats freeview you're getting and not freesat?

    So a quick question..

I'm about to install Freesat with a Humax Foxsat receiver but I want to be able to record four channels at once rather than two..

As far as I know this is technically possible but not in advance of a firmware upgrade.

    So do I:

    - Buy two Foxsat boxes - but if I do this will I also need an extra TV also or is there some way I can hook up the two boxes to use with just the one TV which would be ideal.

I'm presuming I can install whatever (octo) LNB I will need given two lines per box (I'm hoping to have one box in a different room which can also record two - six total - don't ask..

    Love Boards.

    Thanks.

you could have 2 boxes hooked up, if your tv or amp has 2 hdmi inputs.
You would have to switch sources to view boxes. might get a bit confusing..

why all the recording at once ? do tell..

to record 4 channels you need 4 tuners.

Hmmm. Dosn't sound ideal but thanks.

And answer is: a TV/media analysis project.

I have just bought a Ariva 150 combi my question is i have tried to load the channels in and can only get 14 channels . 8 of which are irish and 6 are english stations is there a way of getting any more?

Do you have a feed from a satellite dish connected to the box? You don't really need a combo if you have UK terrestrial reception, although you'll get a few more channels on satellite.

i live in ireland and i do have both connections all showing a good signal . I have a different combi box and have hundreds of channels on it ,but this Ariva combi 150 is just givng me 14 channels 8 of which are irish and 6 are english which i know is coming through the satalite feed ps. thank for reply

rte 1,2,3,4, rte juior, rte news, rte+1 bbc 1,2 bbc parlment, 3e. think my problem might be with the tech. I have tuned n a couple of diff. combi boxes but this one has me stumped . ps thanks for quick reply.

You're certainly not getting those Irish channels from the satellite feed, unless you have a Sky card in the box or something. Those BBC channels have been available in all NI terrestrial spillover areas for the past 2 weeks.

i have figured the system out just now i was looking for channels through one satalite and it was giving me these stations, i selected all satalites and set the machine to do a multiple scan on these and i have hundreds of channels coming through now ps thank for all the feed back i feel a little red faced

a combi box needs 2 signal lines one from the aeral and the second from a satalite dish have you connected both plus what type of box did you get

You have to use the remote control and go to terrestrial menu and press scan.

And then scan satellite (pick 28.2e) if you have a satellite dish connected.

Thanks for the reply Whack16. I bought a saorview approved Digihome box. I only have an aerial set up as I'm happy enough at the moment to only receive the Irish channels..bought the combi so that at some satge in the future I'll get a satellite dish installed and receive the other channels. I'm sure the guy in the shop said that I can use it with an aerial only for the moment?!

Thanks for the reply STB. The instructions said that a menu should appear on screen when everything is connected and to follow instructions from it to install channels but all I have is a snowy screen. Any further ideas/help please?!

How are you connecting the box to the TV? Via SCART, HMDI? You need to make sure you are have selected the channel for the socket you have connected the box to, eg EXT1 EXT2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 whack16

i know this might sound silly but is there a switch at the back maybe needs to switched on?
