Is the a teaser for a movie trailer, or a teaser for a commercial?

    If it's not a fake - I don't.
Not sure I want to see Ferris Bueller as a middle-aged man.

Don't get your hopes up. Its a superbowl commercial.... probably a couple of minutes long, max.

It isn't a fake. It's a teaser for the commercial that will air at the Superbowl on February fifth. It's probably only a commercial though.

If there's no Alan Ruck, no dice!

Still can't wait to see this!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 545 ✭✭✭WatchWolf

Alan Ruck NEEDS to be in it. If he isn't this is pointless. They should try get Mia Sara as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 545 ✭✭✭WatchWolf

I guess it's probably just a short. Still though. Alan Ruck better be there...

Either do I but I'd have to watch it just to see how he's getting on in life lol

If this turns out to just be a commercial or something a mod can delete it. I feel like a jack ass.

    Why? It's Film related...

.. certainly closer to Film than Television tbh!

Yeah, exact same reaction here; champing at the bit now to watch it all over again.

And you never know, if it goes down well it might lead to a sequel. Broderick and Hughes talked about making Ferris Buller: Another Day Off a few years ago, in which a middle aged Buller needs a day off from work. I didn't think Broderick would be interested after Hughe's passing but now he's back playing the character it's anyone's guess...

Whatever it is, I hope it'll be better than that spin-off TV show with Charlie Schlatter.

    Baow-Baow.............Burrah-Baow-Baow.........

    *Chick........chicka-chicka*

    Burrah-Baow-Baow..............OOOOOOOHH YEEEEEEEAAAHH!!!...........Burrah-Baow-Baow!!

Feckin' song is stuck in my head again! Judging by the buzz caused by this and the reaction of the advert itself next month I wouldn't be surprised if there would be consideration for an actual sequel to get greenlit.

It's during the Superbowl at a cost of $3.5 million for 30-seconds..

.. so they're making sure they get their money's worth! :D

If the Superbowl show was a Matthew Broderick led rendition of Twist n' Shout, I'd actually probably watch American football for the first time in my life.

The mystery is apparently solved, here: it's for

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Ironically it's BBC showing the Superbowl game in this part of the world, so no commercials of any description.

Still, if people are eager to see the Ferris event live ther'll always be options.

Sky are showing it too, but you weren't getting to see the US TV commercials either

Such is the hype surrounding these (and the cost) they'll be all over the internet though. There's even an award for best superbowl ad FFS

Personally I think a sequel would be a terrible idea. The whole ethos of the films was built around Ferris being a cheeky kid, just couldn't see it working now. I'd rather the whole was just left alone to be honest. It's perfect right now, a short/commercial or whatever would just taint the legacy of John Hughes' wonderful creation.

Is it just me, or has Matthew Broderick not changed one single bit since Ferris Buller, bar a few gray hairs.

I would actually like to see this as a flim. It would be either forgettable or good, either way I wouldn't mind it being made. I'm kind of annoyed that it's not now!

Well he was a cocky teen in Bueller, almost impossible to make that character likeable but he managed it. Since then had had a few underrated performances in the likes of Glory and Election.

Last week i'd have disagreed that he hasn't changed since Bueller, he always seemed hang dogged and over weight but in that clip he's pure Bueller.

Wes Anderson. He would be a ridiculously good fit.

Only part time. Him and his wife Sarah Jesica Parker have a holiday home there. Outside Killybegs near Kilcar I think.

Yeah but instead of commercials you have to watch that gobsh1te talk about the NFL like he even has half a clue. Annoying as fúck! I'd rather watch commericals! Well I'd rather be in the woolshed. Well I'd rather be in the Kobra! GO GIANTS!

Yeah, that Tiki Barber fella from last year only played for a second-rate team, after all.

Broderick looks a bit bizzare, like some cross of a maths teacher and Liza Minnelli.

Gutted after that, soon I saw that clip was dying for a film heres hoping when they see the hype this has caused the studios greedy side comes out and they decide to make a film for real.

yeah its a pity its just an ad for cars.

still it was a lot of fun !

you never know it might kick something off.

I always imagined most film goers wished that greed would be less of a factor in deciding what gets green lit.

At least it wasn't actually Ferris in the end, makes it less dirty. And in the end it was just a bit of fun, could have been much worse. Best of all it's pretty much extinguished my fan boyish wish for a sequel that would have inevitably disappointed.

And in the end it was just a bit of fun, could have been much worse.

I don't know if it is just a bit of fun, TBH. It's a company cashing in on an audience's nostalgia to attract some cheap (by which I mean probably very expensive) attention. I'm not for a second suggestion Ferris Bueller's Day Off is an artistic triumph - although it is probably one of the most charming, fun comedies around - but this is just Hollywood and marketing cynicism taken to a new extreme.

That said, I can't imagine a sequel and/or remake would ever be anything but a cash-in. I'm more than happy to pretend this never existed and retain my happy memories of the film instead, especially that line about Rooney being an asshole.

Still hopin' for a stadium scale Twist n' Shout though. A man can dream.
