    Funny though
Just sent an email request for a quote and the automatic reply on sending was

" Mr ***** you message was sending successfully!
We shall contact you as soon as possible.
    Thank you!"

    MOD ???

It's not the MOD - it's a dealer in ex MOD stock. Bizarre copy all over the site.

WHAT DO YOU RECKON PRICE wise ?????????????? £2500

after a hundred emails from Ireland :D £3000

That's Witham Specialist Vehicles, they are the only disposal agent for the MOD, everything from trailers to tanks go to them.

You may have fun buying as an individual, they are only interested in bulk buyers and the like unless they know you, everyone else they regard as tyre kickers and time wasters. They hold regular auctions, some may end up in that.

They look to be in fantastic condition.

One of the MV mags regularly reports on what's at Withams, hopefully they'll say what they were used for.

One of the best engines ever built in one of the best chassis ever built. They're LHD too so there'll be a big interest from Germany even though its the undesirable SWB version.

A friend of mine used to drive them down to Africa on a regular basis, selling them in Senegal where he was getting serious money for them about 10-15 years ago. I think I have pics somewhere of them.

The one in the pic is no doubt the best of them, I'd like to know the condition of the others and if a max of 20,000 km in 25 years has done them any damage.

They will go for big money, that one there is essentially ready for a museum by the looks of it.

The MOD send them to Withams with a return they expect to get which will probably be around £1000 each

They tend to put stuff up at inflated prices to start with to put the likes of us off, they're not really interested. They have millions of pounds worth of gear to sell, they will go eventually but probably not for £8500.

Reminds me of the APC thing from Aliens, I'd love one,

You could tow an industrial estate with that thing

Edit: Turns out they did use a modified tug:

Anyone know why Witham's have some vehicles for sale outside of EU only ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,374 ✭✭✭Saab Ed

    508's so you'll need a C1 to drive them. God I'd say they're slow.

Can't see any on there at the moment but sometimes they've had new ROW spec Land Rovers and the like that either don't meet EU emissions or aren't type approved.

They can be fussy who they sell the armoured Range Rovers and other discretely armoured vehicles as well although they'll sell a Snatch Land Rover to anyone!

What I'd really like if I won the lotto is a CET and an IMMLC :D
