On this site it is forbidden to provide medical advice - dietary or otherwise. However I shall move this thread to the Nutrition & Diet forum as they may be able to assist you there. If the advice that you are seeking is against that forum's charter - this thread may be closed.

Wishing your partner the best of health...

Fresh whole foods, in as unprocessed a form as possible.

Lots of eggs, oily fish, fresh meat and chicken, lots and lots and lots of green vegetables. Olive oil, butter, cheese, natural yogurt, whole Irish fruit, nuts, seeds, root veg, small amounts of whole grains.

Ignore all the stuff you've heard for years about the 11 servings a day of grains and cereals. This is the worst thing for a potential diabetic, you need to be a healthy athlete to thrive on a diet like that. Instead, make the meat/eggs/green veg the basis of your meals.

Cut out bread (yes, even brown), pasta, cereals, juice, and of course, all the processed crap that's out there.

Exercise. That helps your body's ability to use insuln properly. Walk regularly and get some occasional pant and sweat exercise. Lift weights.

Go to bed on time. Lack of sleep affects insulin levels.
