    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2895259

Listed as 2.0L petrol and appears to have a 2.0 tax disc to back it up and no mention of anything unusual in the ad.

Maybe incorrect information was supplied when the vehicle was imported.

But it wasn't imported, it's Irish from new. The LS430 only comes with 1 engine also so no way could have been a mixup in that way. When you put it in to Cartell it shows up as correct LS430, would be interesting to now how the motor tax office issued it.

    By the reg.

    How

Anyone with a passing knowledge of Cork registrations would know this number falls well into the middle of the year in 2001 and is, therefore, unlikely to be an import.

It could well be either a fraud, where the car was once registered as an IS200, then changed, or an engine change was made to the registration details, which requires a Garage to stamp the relevant form to verify the change was made.

Buy such a car at your own risk, you could be liable for severe penalties.

Presumably hes going by the reg being too low for it to be an import.

    Yes that's it exactly.

Possibly some mad capped engine swap would an IS200?

    I don't even know if that's possible

Weird indeed, the 24 valve IS200 engine was 1988cc, the 3SGE 4 cylinder yoke was 1998cc..

Could you imagine a small 2.0 litre engine trying to move that body around.

I'd be thinking there isn't a 2.0 in there, Joe isn't answering his phone.
