    From looking at Skyscanner:
Out of Dublin 06:30 on the 6th, arrive back 23:50 on the 8th, €130 each with Ryanair.

Obviously, those times mightn't be great for you.

Hotels can be dear. No idea what current prices were like, but we were there a few years ago for a wedding and stayed in a small 3* called Hotel Pincio, was really handy for a lot of the sights - 5/10 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, Pantheon. Lot of shopping streets nearby, which was obviously a negative :)

(On a side note, if you're trying to locate the Trevi fountain, don't use Google maps - it shows a completely different fountain beside the Trevi Metro stop, 10 minutes away)

For other city options, head to skyscanner, put in your dates, leave the destination blank (Anywhere).
You can get to Oslo for €50 each that weekend!
Barcelona about €100 each, Venice €110 each.

I stayed at the Hotel Napoleon a while back.

Its within walking distance of the Colosseum, the magnificent Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, Termini Station and lots of good bars & restaurants in the backstreets of the Monti area. There is also a metro station and tram stop right outside the door for further galavanting.

They also have a deal for guests staying 3 nights or more. They collect you from the airport (either of them) and drop you back after your stay.

This is what swung it for me in the end.

While there is so much to see and do in Rome itself, I always recommend that visitors take a trip out to Frascati for an hour or two if they have time. The train journey itself is a nice spin as it winds its way up the hill. There are some great walks around the town with fabulous views over Rome. Its a beautiful place.

Hotel Cinquantatre and Hotel Raffaello are nice mid-range places I know. The first is near the Spanish Steps, the second near the Colosseum.

Go for Rome, if you didn't like Paris there is no reason to go back there. Don't forget to go and visit Pompeii and Vesuvius.
