experience working in a community pharmacy in the Republic

I am a recently qualified pharmacist, having studied pharmacy in the UK (Aberdeen) and did my pre-reg. year in N. Ireland. I have recently come onto the register here in the Republic and I know that this entitles me to work as a pharmacist here right away, but I was looking to gain a little experience, perhaps a week or two, with the various medical schemes that operate here and how to process the various prescriptions. I am from Galway and when I asked at one or two local pharmacies here to try to do this, I have found their response to be quite negative, from no we can't facilitate you, to just jump right in. My feelings are that since I will be working as a pharmacist (or at least hope) for the next thirty or so years, then I can spare a week or two or a bit ore, to make sure I am familiar with the Irish systems, in order to avoid being stuck when I work on my own in some small pharmacy somewhere, in a locum capacity. I was wondering whether anyone knows of a pharmacy where this would not be a problem, perhaps even some pharmacists or pharmacy owners frequent this forum and might read this. Anyway, this is my post,

    All the best,

    DN
