    Hi folks,

I've been humming and hawing about chaning to a BMW 320d for a while now, and with the aul fuel bills starting to get bigger again I think I will.

I just rang about one there, 03 with 150k miles for €5.2k.

Turbo was done 4 months ago but no receipt, and for the last 2 years it has just been serviced by a friend so no stamps.

Should I be worried? FWIW it looks very clean on the add and apart from those concerns re the servicing I think it is pretty perfect.

    Thoughts?

Well to me the servicing is the main thing, especially at that mileage. Even heaps can be made to look half decent, its the mechanics i'd be worried about. High mileage is no problem, but high mileage with no recent history is a big problem. Personally i'd walk from anything with patchy history.

First of all, turbo failure is very common on that generation of 320d so if I had it replaced recently then I would make damn sure I had a receipt for it to show a potential buyer to put their mind at ease. Servicing with the right grade of oil is also very important and receipts to prove is also a given. Did you ask about the swirl flaps being removed and crank breather filter being changed ever second service. If the seller has a puzzled look on his/her face then I would walk away. Owners who like these cars know their weaknesses and address them.

Also €5,200 is very expensive for a 9 year old one with 150k miles given there is no real proof of turbo replacement or servicing.
