Headaches when exercising

    Hey all,

Just wondering has anyone else experienced this and is there a remedy. The last two nights I've had a headache when running. It happened pretty much the same time for the same length both nights (between the 2min - 10min mark). It eventually died down.

I'm tracing it to pushups I did on Sunday last where I had may have pushed too hard and when I stopped I felt the headache start. I just put it down to dropping my head too low when I was pushing out the last few.

Just curious as it's quite annoying/distracting/sore and hoping it's not too serious!

    Go see a doctor!

Sounds like dehydration, but goto the doctor regardless.

Dehydration is a major cause of headaches and considering what your were doing it looks like it. Make sure you drink plenty of water . However something like this should not be overlooked and if happens again get it checked out.

I'll up my water intake then and see if it's dehydration then. Had crossed my mind alright but I'm in the same routine (Mon-Fri) for the last 5 months. It's just this weekend I was doing some body weight exercises and after the pushups I got a serious headache. It subsided and I continued with the rest of the workout without any pain.

I agree - better to see a specialist.

Dehydration springs to mind first but, if you've been in the same routine for months, it may not be the case here - it's not as if the warm weather or anything is adding to dehydration at the moment.

It may be an exertional headache or trapped nerve but it's impossible to know without seeing a specialist.

Until you see one, make sure not to tense your neck muscles up unnecessarily during excercise or (i don't know what this is called but don't go as if you're about to breath out heavily during a rep but forcing yourself to hold the breath in).

Apart from this, there's no real advice people are able to give here as medical advice isn't allowed on the forums.

Cheers for the advice. Going to go out again tonight and hopefully it won't happen. If not I'll go to the doctor.
