    Hey guys,
Its going to be my first summer as an offical member of a cycling club and now i want to start cycling more but what i would like to know is, what were your goals in your first year? I am able to do 50k but want to extend that. Any ideas on what i should be aiming for? And training towards goals etc? Thanks :D

If your going out on spins with the club that will help extend and improve your cycling. Its impossible to say, but a rule of thumb around here is that the total of whatever cycling you do during the week should be within your abilities. Eg

    Monday 20km
    Wednesday 10km
    Thursday 20km

    Sat comfortable 50km

For me I found that regular short spins, extended out with a gradual increase of pace got me to sportive distance, within 2 years of first wearing Lycra I was completing 160/200 km's at will.

A handy guide is not to increase your cycling by more than 5% per week.
Main thing to watch out for in injury and to enjoy it.

    Oh yea
Its my first summer as an official member of a cycling club

    Its only January ffs!!!
