They haven't changed their policy yet.
Pigsback coupons are still accepted by the self-scan tills.

tesco's policy is now that you can use the coupons on the self scanning tills, one coupon per product at a time , if you have alot of coupons they recommend you to go to a manual till as after two coupons they get cranky

They usually accept two coupons after that you get red-lighted and need an assistant to proceed.

Hello! Long time no see, I just recently went back looking into "serious" couponing and I found myself saddened by how not only the "Irish coupon scene" didn't get better but, instead, has worsened loads...wow, really hard to find any coupon at all outside Pigsback...
Is it only me having lost my hand at it or is it the actual situation?
    Sigh Sob.

Its not just you Tirabella - I've stopped couponing altogether. The lack of coupons meant the time involved researching, printing, looking for offers etc for very little savings .... it just wasn't worth it for me.

My new way to save money on my family's shopping bill is:
    1. order online with superquinn - I don't have to bring kids with me (yay!), I don't overspend on impulse buys, and I almost always have a promo code for money off or free delivery.
    2. Supplement my main shop with lidl/aldi for alot of things and for fresh veg/fruit offers etc

Although my couponing days are over for now, I still have a good few bottles of Dettol spray in my shed, and my Persil liquid stockpile lasted me aaaages :)

    Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum, and was so excited by your enthusiasm at the beginning of this thread....but as I kept reading, the enthusiasm seemed to dwindle a bit. I'm really into couponing but let's face it, its never going to be like the States, but we can make the best of what we've got!!! Telling eachother of deals that are out there is such a fantastic idea!!! You guys (and me now! Yay!) have to keep searching and telling!!!! I've found a few sites that may help someone??? Ok,they're not fantastic deals but they may help someone..and good to keep an eye on???
    Hope to hear from you

Hahaha, the good aul'times :) We are close now to finish the "laundry room" stockpile, in the meanwhile we shopped more often in Lidl and online too.

Really I wish there was more opportunity to use coupons, this way the only way to substainable shopping, for us, is discount shops, in the long run, me thinks.
    Let's hope something changes.

I miss the good old days too! ...sigh

I wrote to a lot of companies and none of them bother to respond, i even wrote to the crowd that looks after the pigsback ones - nada. I think that there is a good mix of people here and the offer could be to review products based on them giving us coupons, would a consideration as a group.

I still have a large stock pile of persil - but then, I am using less of it, I add water to make it go longer as i feel i use too much, the same with comfort

Still have loads of hand soap and Dettol, but had just run out of comfort and actually bought one bottle before Tesco had the special offer which i used with the coupon,

I use the McCambridges one for the bread,

But definitely miss the days when I hand over wads of coupons, what galls me is that the same companies offer the coupons in USA and I wrote to those larger ones who could not even have the decency to respond!

Ah well - off my high horse for now, Irish people hate coupons!

    Hi
I have just joined your coupons Chat and I was wondering could somebody please help me I was reading the coupons I have printed out and they state " This coupon cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer" does that mean if a product is on sale I can not use my coupons to help me save more money ?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 munchbunch

As far as I understand it, that means you cannot use two coupons for the same product from the same company.
So for eg. You have a coupon for "20c OFF a mars bar", and a 50c coupon off any mars, snickers or bounty bar. You couldn't use the two together to get 70c off. This would never happen IMO because these are HUGE companies, they are not going to make the mistake of having 2 coupons running at the same time, I think its just there to protect them legally in case such a thing ever happened. I hope I'm explaining it clearly???
You can however use "20c OFF mars bar" and Tesco coupon "50c off any chocolate bar instore" - to get 70c off. Does that make any sense??

Tesco will accept coupons regardless of what other offer they have on that product.

If they have a special offer for buying 2 of the same product Tesco will accept 2 coupons (one for each).

Thank you for your quick reply So if Tesco have a product on special offer for half price etc they will also take the coupon ? thats is great news now I only have to find the coupons :)

Just thought I'd put this up as Tesco sent me some vouchers and thing are very quiet here

I had registered on the Tesco.ie site a while back, but had never completed a home delivery order.
I just used the site to check offers and sometimes would put items in my basket but never went to checkout.

A few weeks back Tesco throught the power of their computers sent me 3 vouchers
    2 x €30 off a €60 spend and 1 x €20 off a €60 spend.

It was too good an offer not to use, so used them.
I'm still not 100% converted to the online shopping but it did help

Lucky you I hope they send it to me too!! I use the site to compare prices so if they did I would make sure that I got every special offer I could for 60 euro thus saving on the item and the 20 euro But I would still go back to the shop for my weekly coupon offers as I would have an extra 20 euro to spend :) Enjoy your savings

I find it strange that no one wants our opinions on their products - i.e. pigsback offer coupons for particular products - but no one follows up on - did you use the coupons, did you find the product useful - blah blah blah

Is that not the purpose of a company like PB? especially new products - over the past 18 months I have written to PB, and a lot of companies asking for coupons, and especially - those "larger" conglomerates who offer mega savings in US & UK but not here, and the company who actually supply PB with coupons - and no one had the decency to even respond - it seems that they don't care about the users opinion,

When i find a PB coupon that I would use time and time again - I don't print it - I save a load of them to file and then print them as needed, and had been working well until a month ago - the files refused to open! and there was I armed to use the Millicano ones! LOL

Tesco sent me a coupon booklet and I used all bar one - including a euro off persil, comfort and coffee! happy days - I also got a free packet of tesco bourbon creams -

I use the website to compare my shopping and again - if i really need something - look for bargains - when something comes up as half price - I don't buy just one or two - I would buy ten at least - I use to be embarrased about it now I can't afford to be. I still have a load of stock of that toilet paper!

I know the forums here are monitored and the good bargains don't stay for long anymore - but its all about keeping our eyes open and posting here,

I think what happens here is similar to when you buy an offer from them. They can see how many people have printed the coupon. Lets say the coupon expired July31st and 100 were printed. They can then see how many were redeemed. So say 90 were redeemed they could report back saying 90% of the people who printed your voucher used them.

I think aswell you can print the same coupon again. I suppose if it wasnt useful the first time, it's not going to be useful the second time.

how many cats actually liked them
