That's fine. Mind you, once you have it sorted you should go shop for a 10 pack...

18-25 means it is suitable for a tyre between 18mm and 25mmin width. Your old one was suitable for a tyre between 18mm and 23mm. It could be argued that you new tube is more suitable than you old one!

Good for you. Trouble is, as the tyre wears out, punctures are more likely. Keeping tyre pressures up is important too to avoid pinch flats.

Rather than spend time on the side of the road mending a puncture, many cyclists carry spare tubes. Then, in the event of a puncture, you just swap tubes and fix the punctured one at home. A 10 pack of tubes works out around €2.50 each vs around €5 each from the local bike shop. I keep a couple in my desk at work and more at home...

I've had a few episodes where the core of the valve separated from the valve body when I was unscrewing the dust cap, so I now check every valve to ensure the inner core is tight before using it. There are little "flats" on the thread to fit a long nose pliers.

Once happened far from home, got a puncture and replaced the tube, the pocket pump I was using has an extending hose which has to be screwed onto the valve. After pumping up the tyre, the valve core unscrewed with the hose, letting out all my hard pumped air . Eventually got it as tight by hand as possible (a pliers not being part of my pocket tools).

Yep, I'm using them. Generally grand, have had one or two split though. I'll buy them again when I next need tubes...

    did you get my pm.

I have heard it said(and it makes some sense) plastic rim tapes tend to slip around a rim dragging the valve with it OR which just occurred to me and would make even more sense, it drags the tube around and away from the valve, either way, sticky, fabric rim tapes are the only way to go, can't beat em:)

I did and I will have a little think and surf, then be in touch.
