    For anyone interested....

Barking Mad - Death Row Dogs BBC1 11.35pm Tonite

"This documentary examines the growing problem of illegal fighting dogs in Britain and looks at why current laws don’t seem to be working. Despite being banned in the early 1990s, pit bulls (right) have become the dog of choice for criminals. Injuries caused by dogs are at record levels and rising. The film follows the police as they try to tackle the problem and recounts the tragic stories of families who have had a child killed by an out-of-control dog."

TBH these kind of programmes are hard for me to watch. :(

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

from just reading the op its sounds like this programme is just going to give pits more of a bad press. i wonder are they going to do both sides of the story or is it out to make matters worst. is there anyone takin the pits side.

its on @ 11:35 in ireland. 10:35 bbc UK

either way it looks like it's just gonna be staffie/pit breed bashing since the dogs trust segment has reportedly cut out.

i guess a positive viewpoint isnt entertainment

turned out to be quite fair in that they only showed terrible dog owners. i agreed with the cops on the failings of BSL.

The fact that harmless dogs are having to be put down because of ****ty owners making their pets live in ****ty places and they can't be put into re-ownership is madness and lacks any rationale.... why aren't the government doing anything to change this, animals are being killed because of a ****ed up law.

Thought documentary was well done and very sad tbh

Someone posted a shocking video of Ukranians killing dogs in the build up to the Euros. I'll be passing on watching it but I have seen some images posted on Facebook. Sub human stuff.

the rehoming issue is madness. there were quite a few rehomable dogs in that program. it could work if there was some sort of vetting process for wannabe adoptors. people like the ones we just seen shouldnt even get a look in, they dont deserve a beautiful creature like a bull terrier.

It just showed scumbags living in *not very desirable* houses/flats that never walk their dogs/socialise them/days old faeces in house/ use them for image etc.

This in itself was an insult IMO as it insinuated that responsible people are not associated with the breed. A few references to crime and drugs as well:rolleyes:

    No balance to the show.

At least 2 lovely sociable dogs that were pitbull mix were subjected to an awful home raid, taken away and the citourt ordered for them to be PTS. These dogs were fantastic and it is so sad that there is no option to re-home.

I cried when it showed Tyson (I think?) getting sedated and the lethal injection given, all the time his tail was wagging away:( Disgraceful

nothing disgracefull pure reality, some dogs deemed to be put too sleep in a court of law....

just because its a reality does not mean its not a disgrace.

there were dogs in that show that were rehomable. we're not naive enough to think that every pitbull can be rehomed, some of them are too far gone but plenty could make the perfect pet.

all it needs is a change in a law that even the cops admit doesnt work!

Anybody have a link to watch it? I clicked on the link 2qk4u posted but it only plays in the UK. Much appreciated :)

Just watched it, poor Tyson the saddest thing ever. His tail didn't stop even when the injection was going in.

The law is an ass, the police kept calling them fighting dogs. What f**kin idiots are they?

Am in bits here, so sad.
