What do you make of Bollywoods special effects Dept. ??

I personally think it's a load of s***e but at the same time something has me smiling when I re-watch their special effects.

Maybe it's done so badly on purpose that it's good, I just don't know.
What make you of Bollywoods special effects dept. v's Hollywood Special Effects.

Here is an example, the special effects here should make you lol :

Having said that I think Hollywoods effects have gotten so good that they're crap.
Example - Transformers films, the fighting between the autobots was good but far too fast for my eyes to actally register what was going on.

It was mostly a blur during the fight scene, I think less would have been better in this case or less is more if you know what I mean

Do you think Bollywood have mastered special effects 9 votes

    .

Agreed. Also, what sort of script called for a man on rollerblades armed with an anchor?

Sorry couldn't pay attention to the effects with that Ferris Buelleresque soundtrack.

    Awesome.

who knows, if you watch his rollerblades ( i think ) when he jumps on the car bonnet one minute he's wearing rollerblades, the next he is wearing shoes, then rollerblades again.

The end bit as well when he "jumps" onto the pallet from the crane is pretty awesomely bad.

Hard to think Bollywood grosses more cash these days than Hollywood but maybe if Bollywood are cutting their computers costs / graphics then maybe I could see why + there's alot of people in India so..............

That was a great example of some practical effects and stuntwork!

I'd much prefer that to a Hollywood film with bigger crashes and more elaborate set-pieces that were clearly CGI.

Though yeah, the editing's not great.

I actually hope they didnt get a first year film guy to do the editing and synching on that, think they just picked some randomer out of a pub temple and got them to do it.

    shockingly bad

    The editing was terrible!

The cars were on fire one minute, then werent again, then flew up in the air for a second time and exploded. Wierd.

Also, why did the car explode in the end? It was just flying mid air and then exploded...

Also, special effects were 90's hollywood by the looks of it!

I agree, bad as it is, I prefer it to hollywood's CGI.

It instantly throws any film into the comedy genre as well

That was fun, sure the editing is very "chainsaw" but the stunts/effects (complete with visible launch sticks) are expressive which fits the Bollywood genre.

Tamil Films are where its at. Bollywood is about the musicals.

Bollywood/Tamil special effects aren't necessarily CGi, which is the way Hollywood has gone. It's mostly mechanically done or camera angles. I mean, I would love to see a big budget Hollywood movie using the same techniques as they do over there - guess the result would be somewhat like Inception.

Where did all those cars come from, when he was roller blading passed the flaming trucks?? There was at least 3 cars that magically came from space!!

    That's just bad directing.

in the old cowboy films the good guys wore white hats and were always seen coming from the right hand side of the screen

one of the reasons for the conventions was that it made it clear to the audiance what was going on , Hollywood has lost that , sometimes it's so confusing you just don't care. in a lot of the transformers fights I couldn't be arsed trying to figure which robot was which in the meleé scenes

I can't wait to see the finished cut of the LUAS crash in the Dublin Bollywood movie:

When I watched Transformers in the cinema the most confusing thing was how the hell I ended up in there in the first place.

    suspension of disbelief

and forget physics , same rules as Hollywoodland really , except Bollywood doesn't pretend

Skip to 2:00 for the horse

In other news , I'm going to have to watch Kung Fu Hustle again

That was awesome! Why the hell isn't Filmfour showing that rather than Independence Day After Tomorrow every 28 hours?

Wouldn't be as bad if they didn't shoot the movie with a calculator.

They don't care much about the horses, do they? There'd be no message about no animals being harmed in the making of this film in the credits.

My favourite is 2:13 where they bothered to have a shot of the real horse getting up so that the continuity isn't broken!

Those movies are ace, it's like they keep making 80's action movies.

Anywho, I give you this horror:

You want cheap? I'll give ya cheap! Here's an Indian superstar typing a document out on Windows Media Player :pac:

This scene is pretty good, though

It's the awful editing that let's these movies down as opposed to their wreckless but awesome ways with practical effects.

Turkish Rambo, I love how he finds rockets everywhere:

    Pure make believe

Except for the part where one guy without a gun takes on 40 thugs on a train.

Bishnu Shrestha was that guy. Since he was retired could he be considered an oldboy?
