I heard he was sick, but it was a fright to see the poor fecker and how he'd changed.

    Very sad. Horrible disease.

He's a great sports news reader - really sad news, but great to see him dealing with it so well.

Seeing stuff like that really puts those small problems into perspective.

It's been a brilliant and very moving programme. Public service broadcasting at its best.

Seems like a nice guy, used to see him in my old gym, I wish him the very best

It's a devastating condition, but the program was actually uplifting. It's fantastic to see somebody remain so positive while going through an ordeal like that. Awareness is key to understanding and attacking any disease, and a lot more people are aware of this one because of Colm's positive attitude.

Heartbreaking stuff. My wife's dad died from it when she was about 12.

Fair play to him for having the courage to make the programme.

Bloody hell im on the verge of crying here

    Very brave man

I remember seeing him on The Late Late when he was first diagnosed. He could walk on his own, his speech was fine.
It's actually very saddening to see him now. Wheelchair bound, and speech slurred.

He interviewd Alex Ferguson the Christmas before last, and it was one of the best radio interviews I'd heard.

A lovely man, deserves immense credit for his bravery in confronting this awful condition.

MND is such a brutal, horrendous condition. If I were in Colm Murray's position there's no way I could stay as upbeat and strong as he has done. His willingness to fight it til the end really is remarkable.

Also somewhat reassuring to see that the professor from Trinity they featured genuinely does seem to believe that MND can be defeated some day. I guess she wouldn't be able to do her job if she didn't think it was possible.

I think it's great to see that he's still soldiering on working. It's a horrible disease that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. I just hope a cure is found.

His courageous strength and dignity in the battle against his disease.. he is the most admirable person i have ever seen. He makes me want to be a better person. All my heart is wishing him the very best on his journey x

Colm Murray is a true gent if there ever was one. He's got more courage in his fingernail than I do in my entire body, that's for sure.

I really hope that they can find a cure for motor neurone disease some day.

It was quite an emotional program to look at, fair play to Colm I don't think I'd have the up beat determination

An aunt of mine died with this condition. It really is a truly terrible disease to have and I just wish I knew her better than I did before it happened.

very good programme and well done to colm murray for taking part. I thought his attitude is uplifting to see and it puts peoples worries like septic tank charges now on frontline into perspective. While his views on are realistic on the treatments available to him currently, it showed the humility and selflessness of the man when he said he hoped that his contribution via the show would help the researchers come even a couple of millimetres down the road. A great ambassador for Ireland and id say a gas man too. Wishing him the best

+1 to all the comments here. It has also made me feel thankful that I can walk and talk without any trouble whatsoever. I wish him all the best.

He's a genuine gentleman, and it's heartbreaking to see him like this. He's still so well spoken, and one of the very best and most down-to-earth persons to ever pass through rte. If only there were more people with his personality and character, he really is one of a kind.
His courageousness is admirable, I had the honor of meeting him once or twice a few years back before he became ill and he was just as humble and easygoing as he seems. He'd have the time of day for anyone.

As said before it really does put your small troubles in perspective, I hope he grows better or at the very least attains some comfort.

I knew he was ill and suffering from the illness but had no idea that his health had degenerated to such an extent.

It wasn't all that long ago that he was on the late late to discuss the disease and he still seemed comparatively healthy

I hope this is on RTE Player, missed it tonight. Man is a legend and loves his horse racing so much, he was always at L'town when he could get there!

You knew when he was doing the sports news and had the editorial duties cos his opening line would always be, "And first to racing....."

So glad he was honoured by HRI in 2010 for his contribution to racing, his fav pastime.

It was bad enough when we lost Paul Magee (Jimmy's son and a gentleman) to MND and now racing has seen another true gent struck down with it. :(

With many illnesses, knowledge is power because there are options and ways of fitting it. Not so in the case of MND but Colm Murray is facing what is a truly horrible condition with great courage. He always came across as a gentleman, in this documentary he showed there is steel behind that too. My prayers for anyone who is suffering from this or who has a loved one with it.

As an ex pat I am saddened at hearing this, have not heard him for years but he was very professional and seemed like a top gentleman.

as someone said, makes you put life in perspective.

My grandfather died cause of this horrible disease, it was so sad watching him drain away from the man he was. It's a horrible, horrible disease.

Also RTE thankfully didn't place any adverts in the 45min RTEplayer version
