    hey there,

my boyfriend recently got laid off and is applying for JSA tomorrow.

He's renting and lives with one guy and the rent comes out of the friends account.

Boyf has one bill in his name so he has proof of address.

q is will they want proof of rent?he has a DD set up to the friends account alright but that wont necessarily prove its rent.

He has everything else bank statements, p45, p60 etc

Also do they call out to him and do a means test or just ask him to bring bank stats etc to the office?

    thanks

No, showing proof of rent is not required.
    Evidence of address

You may be asked to show evidence of your address. You should bring any of the following documents:
    • Recent bills from utility companies such as electricity, telephone (landline or mobile), gas, cable television, waste charges etc.
    • Recent statements/letters from banks, building societies, credit unions, credit card companies or other financial institutions
    • Recent letters addressed to you from insurance companies, local authorities, government departments or the Revenue Commissioners
    • Local authority rent book, mortgage or leasing agreement.
Note: a recent document is one issued within the last 2 months. All documents must be originals, not photocopies.
If there is doubt about your address, the Jobseeker's Allowance claim is not awarded for payment until your address is verified.

A utility bill and bank statement would be sufficient proof of address.

As to the second question, it depends on the office he's applying to. Have a look at the (sticky) thread at the top of this forum about waiting times and see if you can find what others are experiencing when they apply to that office.
