I'm going to have a go at putting up my aerials and looking for some info. I have a group A and C/D aerials. I bought a Triax diplexer and masthead amplifier with power supply on ebay. Where would the masthead amplifier need to go and need the C/D to work with that aerial. Would the power run through the diplexer to the group C/D? The masthead surely must be between the C/D and diplexer?

Yes, the amplifier can go between the group C/D aerial & the diplexer. If it's a Triax TFC diplexer, there will be a switch on each leg to turn power passing on or off.

It's recommended that the cable between the amp & aerial should be around 1 metre long.
