Hey got a PS3 for xmas there and dont know too much about em. Im an xbox man.

Started gettin the back catalog of PS3 exclusives and got GT5 preowned.

There was a massive amount of updates before i could play so I left it on to download. When i came back it had said there was an error installing and suggested signing in with the original account that bought the game.

Im redownloading the updates again as they didnt save but can some one tell me am i wasting my time. Has the game been locked from goin online to the first a/c that used it??

Also why do some PS3 games(MSG4) have to install? Can you not play them straight off the disc?

You can play GT5 off the disc, but it takes longer to load the races. I had trouble loading mine onto the HDD so i didnt bother in the end.

I traded it in one day cause i got sick to death of the updates, it was getting rediculous, i couldnt just turn it on and play

Access time and sequential speed is MUCH faster from a HDD than a Bluray disc. So they pre-install stuff to the HDD to reduce loading time.

Thanks for the replies. Updates finished no problem the 2nd time. Had to wait over 5 hours to play the game. Disgraceful!

and were all the updates worth it?? I have a PS3 and the Xbox. I haven't played GT in years since Forza came out. Way better experience in my opinion. GT may look better but is it worth the hassle?

I would be the opposite. Forza 3 hasn't seen the light of day since GT5 came out. Didn't bother getting Forza 4 as I felt GT5 was worth it.

Got a PS3 at Christmas too and was swamped in updates before being able to play the game, then had to wait ages to install it. But it was well worth the wait! Lovin' it with my GT force wheel :)
