Glue Guns

I often see references to hot and cold glue guns. What is the difference between the two? I bought a very cheap one ages ago in a (pound shop type) shop but haven't used it yet. The gun itself is blue which I think means it is a cold gun and is supposed to glue card and paper. I only use materials like felt, card, fabric, ribbon. Just wondered if a proper hot glue gun be better?

The only real drifference is that the hot glue gun melts foam and the cold one dousent cas it melts glue at a lower temperature, but hot glue is stronger.
