Hi can anyone recommend a decent external hard drive that is reasonably priced, looking around they all seem to be around the 100 euro mark, so looking for something a little cheaper.

    Thanks

The prices for all HDD's have gone up in the last few months due to worldwide stock shortages as a result of floods in Thailand destroying most HDD manufacturer's plants.

Prices have nearly doubled. I bought a 1TB HDD for €55 at the start of october, the same one is now €110.

Try memoryc.ie for one. You'd be lucky to get anything higher than 750GB for less than €100 at the moment.

Thanks for that, yep, was wondering why they were so expensive, last one i got was only 45 euro.

Here is a 750GB 2.5" external for about e85. I have a 320GB in the same case, never a problem compared to some other enclosures. Seller is away just now, probably for Chinese New Year.

I wouldn't buy off ebay if I were you, if anything does go wrong, it can be a pain to fix. But it is much cheaper than an equivalent spec from an irish shop.

If I were you I would spend the extra €30ish and buy one from memoryc.ie. Their customer support is brilliant and getting hard drives replaced takes about 3 days (next day shipping).
