Occasional odour when there's heavy rain - septic tank?

The last few months have given plenty of opportunities with so much rain, but I have noticed the odd time that I would have an odour around my back yard, and occasionally in the utility room, when the rain is particularly heavy.

Would this point to a possible septic tank issue?

There is no sign of any leaking into the grass or anything, just a smell in the air which seems to coincide with heavier than normal rain.

    Anything to worry about?

some of the downpipes from your roof could be connected to your sewerage system.
i have heard of this being done before if you had a sewerage pipe that was prone to blocking a soloution would be to direct one downpipe into the system and this would flush it out whenever it rained. personally i don't think it is a good ideawhile it offers a quick and moreoften than not a cheaper soloution it would have a few downsides like flooding your percolation area and also causing an aggitating effect in the tank when the water rushes in this would break up the crust on the top of the sewage causing it to work inefficently and releasing smells out through you vent pipes. i think this could be your problem.

may be completely of the mark though:pac:
