didnt think coming here with questions related to a 01 seat ibiza 1 litre was particlarly relavant myself, but hear me out :)

basically, have the said car, ignition barrel has had it. the key will turn till the dash lights come on no problem, but to turn the ignition to turn over the starter, theres no kick whatsoever.

So having took off the block connecter at the back and crossing wires to find the starter turning over, i decided to have the two wires running upto a button start on the dashboard, and that works grand.

So, to cut the long story short, is a button start nct passable? because its due in february..

    Thanks for reading :)

    Yes, 100%

I've had the same thing on my car for 4 years and never an issue with the nct

Also, much cheaper than a new barrel and it's funny watching people trying to start it :D

I'd love to install a push button. Does the key still go in to switch on the ignition, and then the button turns over the starter?

Cheers Tallon, was thinking of the money side of things myself too.
im assuming at the test centre you have to tell the testers how it works or something?

antodeco, its a pretty straight forward job. i have very little mechanical know-how but i didnt find much of a problem, just find the two wires to the barrel that run the starter motor, and run the cables from them.
if the barrel works in the first place unlike mine, both the button and the key will work for
