Hi all the my uncle has about 25k kms on this car from new It gets its yearly service. From the time he bought it he noticed a bit of blue smoke when starting up. He was aware that it was burning a small bit of oil. He was driving on the m50 last week and a alarm for low oil came on. Would a new car burn this much oil when bedding in. He put 3 liters of oil and she was still not full. Anybody any ideas why the car is burning so much oil.

The 1.4 D4D takes about 4.5 litres, the 2.0 D4D takes about 6 litres, which engine does he have? 3 litres would be a huge amount to be putting in either. What kind of oil was used to service it, could be incorrect spec and it's being burned off?

Get him to go to dealer, get service manager to record mileage and oil level, then periodically call back to dealer to record oil consumption, if it falls outsides toyotas acceptable figures then action will be taken.

Has it been serviced using the correct oil?

He only serviced the car through Toyota Dealer. Everything should have been done properly.
