LinkedIn has become impossible to use, its just another conduit for Twitter now... All I get are constant streams of links to articles that people have read - not even stuff they've written themselves. It makes people look really pathetic to attempt to look intelligent and knowledgeable just by reposting others opinions on trivial muck.

If I wanted to use Twitter I would sign up to it. LinkedIn used to have a purpose, but now its just awful.

Just to play devils advocate for a moment.... none of this sounds like an issue with LinkedIn per se, it sounds like a problem with the people you're choosing to connect with via LinkedIn.

I have never noticed anything like that on my LinkedIn...

I agree with Tsu. Disconnect from those people and move on!

You know you can hide Twitter updates on LinkedIn, right?

I used to get every random thought via Twitter from a couple of LinkedIn connections - I soon turned them off and never have to see them now.
