Bluetooth Receiver for pc

If I posted this in the wrong place I apologise in advance.

I've been playing games on the PC for a while and I've started to use
a bluetooth headset and my PS3 wireless bluetooth controller(wired).
I'm slowly making the conversion from controller to mouse and keyboard.

Bluetooth receivers can connect the controller and headset to my pc without being wired but is there a garuntee they will work with any PC.

This may not seem like an important issue but it is to me as I don't want to murder the battery life on my bluetooth stuff by having it constantly wired all the time.

Also if anyone has any idea of the cost of these that would be great my budget isn't great but to be fair they shouldn't cost me an arm and a leg.
