    Hi All,
Getting laser eye surgery in two hours with Optilase. Slighly apprehensive but at the same time excited. Will update everyone how i get on. Paid 2400 euro for both eyes for the Wavefront treatment which is meant to be the best. Hopefully, will have 20:20 vision. Wish me luck:)

Good luck! Is it Dublin you're getting it done?

Good luck Sarah, would love to hear outcome, as thinking of getting this done myself, just trying to find out best places to go. Also, wondering if it would work on short sighted and long sighted?? as I have to wear variofocals at the moment. Hate the glasses, and have a wedding in Dec so would love to have no glasses for that. let us know. ;)

If you were to get laser done it would only correct for your distance vision ie you would still need reading glasses. Any questions PM

    Hi All,

Thanks for all the messages. I will let you know of my experience. I went into Optilase at 9.30am. I was greeted by my patient carer Ciara who offered me coffee and calmed me down and explained step by step what would be happening during the dat. She also offered to hold my hand throught out my surgery which i thought was a nice gesture and she could see i was very nervous. After preping me and cleaning my eyes, Ciara brought me into the surgery where Dr.Wayne Crewe Brown greeted me and said not to worry at all. I was put into the surgery chair.

At this stage, i was really nervous but Dr. Browne really reassured me. The procedure took about 20 seconds per eye and it was over before i knew it started. I couldnt get over it. After the surgery, ciara brought me into a room where i could relax. The following day, i went for a check up with the Optom Gary, who told me i had better than 20/20 vision. I cant get over the results and still struggling to believe the change over from glasses. If i was given advice to any one to get it done, i would go to an established clinic. Also, i would advice that to go to a clinic that offers a lifetime care guarantee as there is chance your eyes can regress and you dont want to forking out more money.

Also, make sure you see the surgeon before you have the surgery. Go to a clinic that offers a pre-op with the surgeon. There are clinics that you only see the surgeon 2 minutes before your surgery which i think it crazy especially for a procedure like laser eye surgery.Do thorough reserach as you have only one set of eyes and want to go to a reliable place that is going to take care of you. I have to said laser eye surgery has been a life changing procedue so far and i would recommend Optilase.

Sorry Daises, i am short sighted or i was short sighted. I had a prescription of -5 in both eyes so i was pretty blind. You should go in for a consultation first to see if you are suitable. Let me know if you go ahead, as i have 100 euro vouchers for Optilase if you want.

I was replying to someone's question about laser eye surgery and varifocals above as I work in optics and can help answer people's questions

I have no ideas about the bona fides of sara etc, but I do know I got my eyes done september 17 and I couldn't be happier with the care and aftercare.

    Hi sarah ob

What does a good lifetime aftercare package cover - should it cover further treatments if your eyes regress over your life or up to a fixed period of time after surgery. What kinds of questions should i be asking them please or what is the minimum I should expect ie how many post operative visits are included and for how long ie months or years. Thanks

I had Lasik done at Optilase over two years ago and my eyes are 100%! Fully recommend Optilase at Ely Place, Dublin! And I'm no 'shill' either. Their pre surgery consultation and post care was excellent. PM me if anyone needs a referral. :)
