i've noticed a small white thing attached to one of my mollies. it seems to be some kind of gill worm. whats the best course of action to cure the problem. i've read bout interpet no12 anti crustacean parasite treatment or methylene blue. but there is warnings with these that they affect the filters and bacteria. is there other treatments that are affective?

Salt can be very effective against parasites. A couple of teaspoons of ordinary table salt into a jug of tank water and then poured back in once the salt was fully dissolved cured my tank of a bad whitespot infection. Do a google for the correct levels of salt to use on your tank though err very much on the side of caution, salt isn't great for tropical fish .

Be carful of adding salt to your tank, some fish can't tolerate any salt at all. What fish is in the tank?
