Intelligence report alleges link between Israel and Kurdish terrorists

According to reports by Turkish intelligence agencies, Heron unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operated by Israel that have been observed in Hatay and Adana provinces in recent months spied for the terrorist Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK).

    ...

The report asserts that the PKK's training camps in northern Syria, near Turkey's Hatay border “where Turkish military border posts are relatively weak” were established in those locations based on intelligence collected by the UAVs.

The report also claims that Kenan Yıldızbakan, a PKK member who commanded an assault against a Turkish naval base in İskenderun in 2010, has made repeated trips into Israeli territory, reinforcing suspicions of a possible link between Israeli and the PKK.

Last year Netanyahu was quoted as saying:
"Israel never wanted its relations with Turkey to deteriorate and Israel still does not want the relations to deteriorate"

The problem for Israel is that the Turks really despise anyone that aids the PKK so if Israel does not want relations to remain ruptured it better prove that such allegations are groundless.

I thought links between the PKK and Israel were well established.

Since the deterioration of Turkish-Israeli ties allegations have emerged in Turkey that Israel supports the PKK but a link has not been "well established" yet.

Take what the Turkish member of the Palmer Commission said in Nov 11 for example.
"To say that Israel is involved in attacks in Turkey sounds to me like a conspiracy theory. To believe this we need concrete proof. Of course the movement of this terrorist (he says, referring to Yildizbakan) is on the record. These allegations are not helping the relations of the two countries."

That's not something he would say if there was a "well established" link.

    Hehe.. Oh sweet, sweet cyberhog...

It's only deplorable to have links with terror if America don't like you... :)

You have to remember that the PKK works across at least 4 countries and Israel would be quietly happy to see harm to both Syria and Iran, probably less so with Turkey and Iraq. That it was an Israeli-made UAV doesn't mean it was Israeli controlled.

The Israelis have not denied the accusation which allows the perception that they are helping the PKK to grow. Since Netanyahu said he doesn't want the relationship with Turkey to further deteriorate wouldn't it be wise for him not to let this accusation go unchallenged?

Anyone who is surprised by the depths the Israeli state will go to, in pursuit of its own interests, is truly naive.
