I know turbo petrol cars are bargains right now but this particular car has had some depreciation

Probably hanging around since they year before and only decided to slap plates on it in 2010.

Lovely looking motor, but Mazda were way way way too late copping on to the need to shovel a diesel into them.

Funny thing is that even with only 6k miles on the clock, I still can't see anybody parting with €20k for it!It's going to have drop further to sell it I think. What were they new about €50k? So €30k in two years! What is that €2.50 per mile? So going down to the shops for a pint of milk would cost about €7...

My dad has an 08 petrol and I've been driving it a lot lately.

It's fairly smooth and comfortable for the most part and has a great sound system (Bose). The interior is decent but it lacks a good OBC or satnav or something along those lines that a lot of other SUVs come with.

It has a well documented annoying 'shuddery/notchy' feel when you accelerate gradually past 2.5k/3k which annoys the crap out of him though.
Beyond that rev range, it's grand and grips well to the road with the FWD/AWD setup.

It shares the same engine as the 6 MPS - huge turbo, which means it really launches you when it's engaged (250ish bhp)... however it's painfully slow when it's out of turbo.

The MPG it returns is pretty abysmal imo.
It's only very marginally better than my own car (which is notoriously thirsty). I'd say it's getting about 25-30mpg when I drive it (drinks the juice if you go above 3k revs) and even worse when my brother drives it!

Can't see these being very popular at all nowadays. They're pretty anti-recession.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

An MPV that costs €2,258 to tax (next year probably €2.5k) and does about 15MPG? You'll have to give it away. For free, or thereabouts :)

Quick suggestion - if your dad wants to get rid of the shuddering, tell him to get a Hypertech tuner. It comes with a map that gets rid of that, gets rid of the 1st & 2nd gear limiter and increases BHP and Tq.

It will work if the ECU settings weren't changed too drastically from the 6MPS one although he may have to get one specifically for the CX7. The one I'm talking about here is specifically 6MPS.

    It's not cheap though - c. €500.

Interesting.. I'll pass that onto him! Cheers! :)

He had brought it into Mazda and I think they may have updated his ECU etc but they were clueless to the problem, despite it being all over the internet.

The Hypertech has nothing to do with Mazda but the DMF has been targeted as being the problem in the 6MPS as far as I know.

Think it's about €10k overpriced. I mean who in their right minds would spend €20k on that. Might as well go for an older Range Rover or X5 and at least have a bit of prestige for the same running costs.

I came across it when i was doing a genral search on carzone for up to 3 yr old petrol estates and thought it strange to see a petrol version from 2010

Wouldn't that much suit the export to england category rather than sell it here?
