Publicity of Children's Court Convictions

I happened to be near the Criminal Courts today, so I decided to take a look at the building and see justice in progress. Interestingly, the courts are listed by number and judge, but there is no statement as to what type of court it is - district, circuit, etc. The Courts Service website does list it as a District Court. It was nearly lunchtime, so only a few cases were left.

The prosecuting sergeant said that one teenage (probably about 19) accused had a string of convictions, including in the Children's Court. Given that this was an open court where anyone could walk in (as I did), how come such convictions were revealed?

There is only a reporting restriction on proceedings in the Childrens' Court. Justice in the District Court must be in public. That includes revealing details of previous convictions.
