    Hi Guys,

Im living in a timber framed housing estate. One of the near-by houses (also a timber framed house) was recently bought by the council and in the process of renovating it I saw them pumping the cavity with one of these pumped cavity bonded bead type insulation. Am i right in saying that this is crazy??

Will it not lead to damaging the timber? And possibly be a fire hazard to next door?

    Im confused.

    Any info would be great.

yes, sounds strange to me too, but were speculating.. why not find out what company did it and ask them for an explanation? .. maybe their IAB certification to pump between timber frame and block outer leaf..

I have found that many in authority positions in council retro-fit programs may not come from a building physics background and rely on BER assessors to decipher what works can be done.. with the way the tenders are set-up for CC retro-fits, many BER assessors are not getting paid, not knowledgeable enough or insured to advise on such issues.
