And did you eventually give up your swords kit?

Met a few of the Wheelies when the came down to our sportives in September - a nice bunch and I wish them every success as a new club

Best of Luck with the new club. I live in Castleknock but I reckon I'm a Lucan CRC lifer at this stage!
You should post meeting location and times for your training spins on here. Should be plenty of interest around Blanch / C/Knock / Clonsilla

Living in Castleknock here too. Lucan and now the Blanch Wheelies are the main options around here ? Was tempted by Lucan before but they always look a serious (very fast & healthy) bunch !

Not to jump in on the thread but we have 3 groups every Sat - Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced. As per the Blanch Wheelies all are welcome. 9.30am Stagg Cycles, Main St., Lucan.

Whoever you choose to go with - join a club, you won't look back.

do you guys do saturday spins? I can't do Sundays.

Also the Dunboyne Cycling Club isn't that far away from Castleknock so that's another option.

Castleknocker here, might give it a bash some Sunday.

Im a novice though so what are your spins like, how fast, far etc??

Why meet at the Strawberry beds? It is awkward spot and not very central?

3hrs with avg 25-27.nobody will be left behind. If you are doing 40-50k spins you will be ok.
Lads are coming from few different areas and The Straw Hall sponsor us

That rules me out so! I prob avg 22-25kmph on a 10k spin into work which i might do once on an average week, twice on a good week and three times in a miracle!

I think at the moment 30k would be my limit after my marathon cycle last weekend got the better of me.

Maybe if I get out myself overt the next few weeks I will tag along in a month or 2.

I wouldnt worry about your speed, just head out with a club or group.
I am invariably faster in a group cycle than on my own over the same course. There is obviously the importance of drafting. But more than that, I find that psychologically a push harder to keep up when I am in a group. I find that on your own it can be very easy to let yourself drift.
Go out in a group. the worst that can happen is you get dropped. Then you know where you stand. Everyone gets dropped sometimes.

Best of luck with the new setup! I'll probably pass by your meeting place on my way into the park for my club spin. I'll honk (or just say hello)!:D

"Club spin this Sunday from the straw hall leaving at 9:30, back for 12:30 at the latest, should be around 60-70k and we'll add in a jump off spot at around 40-50k if your under pressure to get home (or banjaxed)"
From club email. There is a get out clause the way the spin is planned so you should be ok in the bunch. We wont be expecting you to be at the front dragging the rest of us along:D
