Up for grabs is my Schmidt & Bender 6x42 Hungarian #7 ret with 1" tube.

This is a top stalking or lamping scope.

    The good part:
The optics on this are stunning and the scope is in VGC and mechanics are perfect.

The Bad part: This was the first scope I ever mounted and I over-tightened the rings.
There is no crimping and you cannot notice any problem until you mount the scope. When the scope is placed in a a set of rings it will not rotate freely, the tube is no longer perfectly round.

This will not show up in pics, I was totally unaware until I tried to mount the scope on another rifle. You can still mount the scope no problem, and if you had it sitting in the rings further forward or back you might never have noticed. I'm trying to be as honest as possible. This is a very minor fault.

I am asking €270. Scope is boxed, no paperwork.

I have measured the scope and there is 2-4 thou of run-out, mostly around 3.

I have got this reply from Schmidt:

    Dear Sir,

We would like to thank you for the swift reply.

    Price for exchange of tube:

EURO 321,80 plus VAT and freight charges

Should the damage not be that severe (according to what have written: 2-3 thousanths bulge caused by overtightening of the scope ring screws) Mr. Klaus Görzel, our Service Technician would not
recommend to have the tube exchanged because each mount is leaving bruises which cannot be prevented.

Furthermore Mr. Görzel cannot imagine that this would impact the long term durability of the scope.

    Kind regards,

    Klaus Görzel i.A. Sabine Brandt
