P45 problem: Previous employer printed P45, then I lost P45

Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice with regard to the P45 and tax-back.
I went into the tax office on O'Connell Street a few weeks back, where I was told I needed a p45 from my old employer, and to fill out a 12A.
I filled out the 12A out before the Christmas, and put it in an envelope and had intended to bring them into the tax office in the New Year.
So, today I went to get the p45 out of the press, only to find out someone had binned it .
So my question is, will my old employer be able to print out the p45 for me again stating what I earned last year, so that I can claim tax back?

    Any advice appreciated.

Yes, your former employer should be able to give you a copy, but, in any event, he will have to file a form P35 with a summary of the pay and tax for each employee for the year and this information will be available to the tax official dealing with your application for a refund. The deadline for the P35 submission is 23rd February (assuming it will be filed online) so if you wait until after that you will probably not need a copy of the P45 unless the tax official is officious and insists on a P45.
