Are you asking about getting a UK National Insurance number? If so then just give them your Irish prsi number, if it's a UK company you're going to be working with then they probably won't realise it, but the two schemes are linked together, just tell them it's the same thing. You don't get a National Insurance number unless you actually have started working in the UK or are living there on your 16th birthday.

yeah man sorry for the confusion. The question was about a uk national insurance number and I was looking at apply for work through uk company.
you sure an irish pps number will suffice?

Wilko121; most of the UK operator or Crystal/TUI will take an Irish PPS number for staff.

I would recommend trying not to get stuck working for a large TO. The pay and conditions are muck and Ski time can be dictated by your resort manager.

Look at independant chalet operators, or Mark Warner who are pretty good.

Try www.natives.co.uk for info and if you really want to know what life in resort is like try this blog.

If they are just wanting to prove who you are then it really won't matter which number you put down as they are not actually going to be using that number for anything, just put the pps number down in order to fill in the box, although write next to it that it's an Irish number as they will be confused.
If they then have you as a UK employee then you will get issued with an NI number automatically once you start work.

Hey Wilko121. I'm thinking of doing same with my girlfriend, but I'm reading the websites for the British companies and most are saying that you need an existing NI number.

Did you manage to get any applications accepted? or even get a job?

    cheers

You are entitled to work in the UK as an EU citizen, you won't get a UK NI number until you start work for a UK company though. Have you spoken to them on the phone?

Thanks Robinph. Yep, I've spoken to a few employers and they all say that I need to have the NI Number before they process my application.

Called the Jobcentre, they told me to call a different number for applicants from outside UK....which seemed sensible enough. Rang them and they told me that they serviced only those that already have a number and that I should ring the original number and just set up an interview.

That's not a problem, but I'm trying to prepare myself for the interview as best I can. Anyway know what they ask in the interview? Anyone done one recently?
