Can anyone tell me what are my options for Maree (beyone Oranmore) in Co. Galway? DSL is out.

I see digiweb have an 8Mb product for 40 quid, is it any good? Are there any other providers who offer similar ?
I'm finding with some of there wireless providers, the prices are CRAZY! 60 - 70 quid for 3-4Mb, and contention, sharing with 24 others. An absolute rip off. And then the final bug bear, the usage cap. 20GB or 30GB. Jesu schrist people, the world has moved on. We now consume services like netflix, My TV set top box xonnects to the internet and downloads content as does my tele and blue ray. These usage caps ar enot good.

Anyway rant over. Anyone recommend anything or point me in the right direction?

They have enabled the Maree exchange opposite the petrol station so why is it out??

I'd consider Digiweb metro if you can see the masts in Ballybrit

    Thanks Sponge Bob,
Is the exchange enabled? I am talking about the road out along the lagoon (very remote and a bit out from the village). When I enter my neighbours phone number into the eircom "check availability" box, it comes back as no dsl.

The link I provided shows an enabled exchange boss. One of the 2 boxes is certainly a DSL unit.

Either eircom split your line or the box is out of capacity and it only a year installed. OR!!!

It is eircom and they fecked up twice. :(

I rang Eircom this morning. And the best speed they can put in is the 8mb package on our road

Did they give you any idea on speed? Up to 8mb could mean anything below 8

On the current package its 4mg they said you should get an average of 3mg . I guess if i upgrade to 8 i should get an average between 5 and 7

A question on this.. if eircom say they max they can get out of the line is 8mg, would other providers be able to get more.. Say if went with digiweb for example. Would they be able to provide greater speeds than 8mg?

The account actually says 8mb but I am only getting speeds(using speedtest.net) of 3.5mg ...is this normal for Eircom?

If you go with another provider it will likely be the same speed as it would be still using the Eircom phone line.

Hi, I'm living in Ballinacourty and am struggling to get BB. Has anyone ever used Satellite Broadband. It is expensive to get installed but that's fine if it works. Going nuts without it.
