How so? Reading the article they said he wasn't fired in the first place.

He wasn't . He's still getting paid & they are planning his retirement. Basically he was just suspended wwith pay

Coach Paterno remains employed by the University as a tenured faculty member,” they said in a statement released Thursday. “The details of his retirement are being worked out and will be made public when they are finalized. Generally speaking, the University intends to honor the terms of his employment contract and is treating him financially as if he had retired at the end of the 2011 football season.”

Sorry meant to put wasn't. They never said he was fired, people just assumed that because he was removed as head coach.

Eh, there was never any suggestion that he was dismissed. Given "administrative leave" or whatever nice term they might have for suspending someone with pay.

I'd have a separate one for NFL and NCAA...it could get very messy with the two together! As well as the fact some people wouldn't follow both!

    Done.

We (Hawaii) have taken Norm Chow in to be our new HC from Utah.

Really excited about this. Norm has great experience in the NCAA & NFL and hes already mooted a change from the run and shoot to a more balanced offensive scheme in Hawaii.

Add to this some nice commits since his arrival and things are looking up. I feel this year could be one of our best recruiting classes in a while.

Glad McMakin left before he was kicked the past 3 years hes been in charge have been very mediocre

Well, the run and shoot offense gave you a great run there in the middle of the last decade, culminating in a BCS appearance. What are the realistic expectations for Hawaii?

No expectations for next season really. It will be a rebuilding year. We lose a lot of seniors including Moniz our QB.

Right now the hope is just to start putting together good recruiting classes and build from there.

Chow has already hired Thom Kaumeyer as our DC which again Im happy about. He did a great job with the Jags and had their balanced defense top 10 against the run and pass in the NFL when there.

Means we will move to the 4-3 which I think will help we have struggled defensively for a long time now even in that BCS season.

Norm has talked about being more agressive in terms of recruiting. Talking about players that were for Hawaii that ended up in PAC 10 / 12 teams in the past and werent even recruited by Hawaii due to a feeling they couldnt get these players.

Hes confident he can recruit away from BCS teams and will attempt to do so more than we have in the past.

The move to the MWC should have helped but with all the change it doesnt look like it will. I guess I can just be hopeful.
