I applied for rent allowance towards the end of December and had to go for an interview last week about it.

They replied back to me today saying that

'the rent charged (70 euro) is in excess of that which is permitted by the dept of social protection for the granting of rent allowance for a family unit of your size (60 euro)'

But they said that as I'm doing job bridge my income is high enough therefore they've awarded me 23 euro per week.

Has the maximum now been reduced to 60 and if so when did this happen?

    Thanks for your help

the rates changed when the budget was announced in December but are only implemented this month as their decision was given to you this month then the new rates are in effect
